Basil is an aromatic annual herb of the mint family, native to tropical Asia, and is use by Italian cuisines to bring out the taste and texture of any food. Basil as being the secret ingredient in most of our food has rather more importance to it, a study show that Basil have more health benefits. Basil contains wide range of essential oils rich in phenolic compounds and a wide array of other natural products including polyphenols such as flavonoids and
anthocyanins. Basil is either an excellent or very good source of all
of these nutrients and vitamins. There are many other nutrients, minerals and vitamins present in basil that are not listed here such as omega-3 fatty acid and vitamin C.

  1. Basil is good for the Heart - because it is rich in beta-carotene and other carotenoids , powerful antioxidants that protect cells from free radical damage and cholesterol also an excellent source of magnesium, improving blood flow, and promoting cardiovascular health and well being.
